Six dead, 30 injured in blast

QUETTA, Oct 10 (APP): At least six people were killed and 30
others, including eight police personnel and women and children injured
in a bicycle bomb blast near a police station, in the provincial capital, here on Thursday evening.
The Home Department Balochistan confirmed six deaths and injuring of 30 other people. Official sources told APP that unknown men fitted explosives in a bicycle and parked it near City Police Station lying in Liaquat Bazaar near Mizan roundabout, main commercial hub of the metropolis, where thousands of people used to visit the bazaar for shopping that exploded, resulting in killing and injuring of people.
"Six people were killed and 30 others among them eight police personnel and women and children injured the bomb explosion," Home Secretary Balochistan, Asad Gilani said.
The police said that the bicycle bomb was detonated by a remote control.
The rescue teams rushed to the site and shifted the dead and injured to Civil Hospital.Later, some of the injured were taken to Combined Military Hospital due to their serious condition.
Hospital sources said that a child included in the dead. The injured were include women and children busy in shopping and eight police personnel and daily wagers.
According to bomb disposal squad, six to seven kilograms explosive was used in the blast. The blast also damaged some vehicles and motorcycle parked there.
It is noted here that the place where bomb blast took place was adjacent to Mizan Chowk, a commercial hub of the city where several bomb blasts had been reported in past, claiming hundreds of lives and injuring of several others.
The law enforcement agencies, including Frontier Corps, Police and Balochistan Constabulary rushed to the site and cordoned off the area to trace the suspects.
The police while quoting preliminary investigation said that they immediately could not determine that whether it was suicide attack. "Apparently, it was a remote control bomb explosion, however, we have been continuing further probe into the incident," they said.
Some other sources claimed that 41 people were injured while a policeman was among the dead. However, the police immediately confirmed only 30 injured.
Meanwhile, Governor Balochistan, Muhammad Khan Achakzai and the Chief Minister, Dr Abdul Malik Baloch condemned the Liaquat Bazaar bomb blast and expressed their sorrow and grief over the life loss. They directed the authorities to bring the suspects to justice.
The CM Baloch instructed to provide all necessary medical facilities to the injured. He also ordered to tighten security in bazaars and markets.
