Reconstruction of Ziarat Residency begins

ZIARAT Oct 11 (PPI): Reconstruction of Ziarat Residency began Friday.
Residency was blown up by terrorists on the night of June 19/20.
Briefing newsmen here Friday Technical Adviser and a member of committee constituted by Balochistan Government for reconstruction of Residency Abdul Jabbar told that reconstruction would be completed at the earliest possible.
He said Government has formed three member committee including former Balochistan Chief Secretary Mirza Qamar Beg, Commissioner Sibi Division Shaharyar Sultan and he (Abdul Jabbar). Committee was working under the supervision of Balochistan Chief Secretary Babar Yaqoob Fateh Muhammad.
He said a reputed Architect of the country Mehar Ali Dadabhoy’s technical expertise has also been sought for reconstruction of this national monument.
He said Chief Minister Dr Abdul Malik Baloch was taking keen interest in the completion of this building where Quaid e Azam spent last days of his life.
He said an estimate of Rupees 45 to 60 million has been made for it initially .Entire expenses would be born by provincial government. No funds have been sought from the federal government for it.
He said material of the building would be used again for its reconstruction such as stone bricks, iron guards etc. he said would used in the building was burnt. This was teek wood which was available in Pakistan and would be used while reconstructing the building. He said efforts would be made to restore its original beauty.
He said some of the items which remained in the personal use of Quaid e Azam were safe and were kept at the Arts Gallery. Those things destroyed in fire of the building would be made again.
Meanwhile, people of the area told that reconstruction of Ziarat Residency would bring back its hustle and bustle which has reduced due to the destruction of this historic building. They said due to destruction of the building their business has also come to the lowest ebb. They said they would defend this monument once it is completed.
