Technologies developed by PARC must reach to farmers: Boson

Islamabad, Sept 15 (Online): Federal Minister for National Food Security & Research, Sikandar Hayat Khan Bosan has said that technologies developed by the Pakistan Agricultural Research Council (PARC) must reach to farmers so they could contribute to the economy and for food security.
This he sated while visiting the National Agricultural Research Centre (NARC) Chak Shahzad, Islamabad.
Seerat Asghar, Secretary, Ministry of National Food Security & Research (NFSR&) and Malik Zahood Ahmed, Director General, National Animal, Plant and Health Inspection Services (NAPHIS) and other high officials of the ministry were also accompany the Minister during this visit.
Sikandar Hayat Khan Bosan while visiting the experimental farm fields and laboratories where he was briefed by the Chairman PARC, Dr. Iftikhar Ahmad, Dr. Muhammad Azeem, Director General, NARC, Dr. Muhammad Ali, CSO (PGRI), Dr.Samina Khalil, Director, Food Science & Product Development Institute (FSDPI), Dr. Muhammad Aslam, Director (API), Dr. Mujeed Qazi, an international wheat expert, and other senior scientists.
Sikandar Hayat Bosan stressed the scientists that an effective mechanism must be devised in collaboration with provincial agricultural institutions for dissemination of new knowledge to end users to get positive results of our efforts. He urged the Agricultural Scientists that Olive cultivation and its extraction will play a tremendous role in the economy; therefore agricultural scientists work hard for production of Olive.
Bosan while inspecting the cotton and other crop experiments farm field area at NARC appreciated the agricultural scientists’ efforts for producing various varieties of crops including horticultural crops.
During the visit he was taken to Food Science and Product Development Institute (FSPDI), Wheat-Cross Laboratory, Bioremediation, Plant Genetic Resources Institute, Gene Bank, Horticulture, Farm Machinery, etc.
He was much impressed to see the activities being carried out at the NARC.
