Malala presents her book to Queen Elizabeth

LONDON, Oct 18 (Online): Malala Yousafzai met with Queen Elizabeth II at Buckingham Palace here on Friday.

Malala Yousafzai, who survived an assassination attempt by the Taliban last year at her hometown Swat (Pakistan), spoke to the Queen about the importance of education. She was accompanied by her father Ziauddin.

Malala presented Queen Elizabeth a copy of her recently published autobiography ‘I Am Malala’ telling her that it was a great honour for her to be there.
After accepting the gift the Queen replied, “That’s very kind of you.”

During the meeting, Malala discussed the importance of education for every child.
Media reports said Malala told the Queen she was passionate about every child having a right to an education, everywhere around the world.

She added, "Especially in this country as well. I have heard about many children that can't go to school, and I want to continue our work."

Malala’s Yousafzai also spoke to the Queen and duke about their past visits to his home country.

It is pertinent to mention here that Malala Yousafzai now resides in Birmingham after receiving treatment for her bullet wound. She has received worldwide recognition following the attack, addressing the United Nations, and was also nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize.
