5000 suspects detained, 22 police martyred in Karachi operation

KARACHI, Oct 20 (ONline): Over five thousand suspects have been arrested and 22 police officials lost lives during last 45 days of ongoing targeted operation in Karachi.
According to a private TV channle reports, heavy contingents of police and rangers continued raids and arrested suspects in different parts of the city during last 45 days of targeted operation.
Raids were conducted in Jamshed Quarters, Liaqatabad, Nazimabad, Federal-B Area, Shah Faisal Colony, Malir, Landhi, Korangi, Gulistan-e-Johar, Lyari, Manghopir, Sohrab Goth, Baldia Town, Orangi Town, and Quidabad areas of the metropolis.
The security agencies managed to capture 156 alleged target killers, 148 money extortionists, and 4952 other criminals from these areas.
After extracting information from the captured culprits, the police and rangers recovered over 1602 weapons from the raided areas. Amongst recovered arms are included LMGs, Kalashnikovs, shotguns, repeaters, pistols, hand grenades and crackers.
Total 22 police officials turned targets of the culprits in different parts of the city during this ongoing target operation.
Karachi’s police chief Shahid Hayat has said that this operation has been launched to restore peace in the city and till last drop of the blood, they would continue fight with the criminals.
The rangers’ spokesman has said that this operation is not against any one party or group and they would take immediate stern action in those areas, where criminal elements will be found.
