PR strengthens Vigilance Cell to eradicate corruption

ISLAMABAD, Sep 15 (APP): The Pakistan Railways has strengthened
Vigilance Cell of Pakistan Railways to eradicate corruption from the
organization.
An official of PR department told media that "Present
Government is committed to eradicate corruption from the
organization and "Vigilance Cell of Pakistan Railways" is being
strengthened to work as eye of the government."
Sharing the restructuring plan, he said, Railway Board will be
reconstituted shortly and private sector will also be given
representation in the board.
He added that legal department of Pakistan Railways will be
restructured by appointing the professional as Director
General/Legal Advisor in Management Position Scales (MP) and the
professional fee of the legal counsels will be enhanced
considerably.
Under to plan the junior officer working at senior important
posts will be replaced by honest and dedicated senior officers.
Railway Police department will be restructured on modern lines
and given a motto of serving the people.
To a question he said transfer and posting will be made on
purely merit and no political influence and pressure will be cared.
He said recruitment of Pakistan Railway will be made purely on
merit and it has also plan to computerize all Railway land record.
About the steps being taken to make Pakistan Railways a
profitable department, he said, freight train operation will
gradually be increased and by the end of this year at least six
trains will be operated to daily basis, which will help generate
revenue of 20 to 25 million rupees per day.
At present three freight trains are being operated on daily
basis which has resulted in increase of revenue by ten million
rupees.
In passenger sector, the fair structure has been readjusted to
facilitate and attract more passengers to avail the facility of
train services. This, he said, will help increase revenue generation
by seven to ten percent.
He said special teams have been constituted to conduct
surprise raids to control the menace of ticket less revenue.
