LAHORE, November 01 (Online): General Secretary of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), Sardar Latif Khan Khosa lambasted the government for misleading the Senate by providing the wrong figures regarding the collateral damage in drone attacks.

In a statement issued on Friday, He termed it a sinister attempt to justify the drone attacks by presenting minimum collateral damage of life and property when compared with the fatalities of terrorists who have been reportedly killed more than two thousands whereas civilian casualties are only 67.

Sardar Latif Khan Khosa said that the government was trying to sell pack of lies to people because Amnesty International, Human Rights Watch and United Nations had given much higher figures of civilian casualties.

PPP leader regretted that the government was trying to clandestinely justifying the drone attacks as most effective weapon against hard-core terrorists with negligible loss to civilians.

Khosa added that the film documentary exhibited at the prestigious forums at the international level belied the usefulness of drone attacks as the collateral damage in terms of life and property was heart- wrenching.

“Collateral damage arousing sentiments among the local people of taking revenge from the perpetrators,” PPP general secretary mentioned.

He said that no doubt drone attacks were counter-productive to defeat extremism as local population of FATA joined terrorists' outfits to take revenge after such attacks in which their siblings were got killed, he added.

Sardar Latif Khosa disclosed that the cacophony of government that negotiations with Taliban were underway was beyond comprehension, as the other party was flatly refusing of any such development.
