Dry weather increases infectious diseases

ISLAMABAD, Nov 4 (APP): Local hospitals and clinics are seeing an
increase in number of patients suffering from diseases related to dry weather, which is expected to continue, as met office has predicted dry weather in most parts of the country.
However, isolated rain-thunderstorm is expected in Quetta, Zhob,
Kalat, Malakand divisions and Gilgit-Baltistan during next 24 hours.
Most patients, especially children, have contracted viral diseases
like influenza, bronchitis, typhoid, nasal allergy, asthma, soar throat, chest infection, phenomena, dry cough and scabies.
According to medical experts,"The prevailing dry weather is
contributing to transmission of viral infections. We are seeing a lot of cases of infections".
Experts observed that the number of people experiencing influenza-like
symptoms, including temperature higher than 100 degrees Fahrenheit, cough, sore throat, body aches or headache was increasing day by day.
A pediatrician at a private hospital said dry cold weather was causing
the spread of viral and bacterial diseases.
However, according to Met office, a fresh westerly wave is expected to
affect western and upper parts of the country from Tuesday and likely to persist during next three days.
Scattered rain-thunderstorm with snowfall over the hills are expected i
n northeast Balochistan (Quetta, Zhob, Kalat divisions), KP (Malakand, Peshawar, Kohat, Bannu, D.I.Khan divisions), upper Punjab (Sargodha, Rawalpindi/Islamabad, Gujranwala divisions) and Gilgit-Baltistan.
Weather remained dry in most parts of the country during last 24
hours. While, coldest places during last 24 hrs were Skardu -05C, Astore 04C, Hunza 01C and hottest places during last 24 hrs were Turbat 37, Lasbella, Chhor & Mithi 36C.
