No one can be picked up if police don’t want: CJ

ISLAMABAD, Nov 6 (Online): Chief Justice (CJ) Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry has remarked if police do not want no one can be picked up.

CJP further remarked: if police does not cooperate then all the responsible police personnel be arrested. Nothing can be done without the help of police. Every thing is known to police in every case. But it is not known as to why they remain silent and don’t allow the matters to move ahead.

He gave these remarks while presiding over a 3-memebr bench of Supreme Course (SC) Wednesday during the course of hearing of Navid ur Rehman and Nasim Iqbal missing persons case . They had gone missing from Kark.

These two persons were picked up in August, 2011 and intelligence agencies were blamed for their lifting.

Aziz ur Rehman brother of Navid ur Rehman told the court every thing was known to DPO Sajid Khan Mohmand and local SHO.

CJP asked Additional Attorney General (AAG) Tariq Khokhar “ as to why police don’t cooperate. If police does not want no one can be lifted

He directed that ministry of defence be contacted in this regard.

AAG sought two weeks time but the court gave the time of one week for recovery of these two persons.

Tariq Khokhar assured that he would obtain information from the ministry of defence and present it before it.
The court ordered for recovering Navid ur Rehman and Nasim Iqbal within a week .
The hearing of the case was adjourned for one week.
