CS-Local bodies polls preparations

QUETTA Nov 13 (PPI): Preparations are in final stages of completion for December 7 party based local bodies polls in Baluchistan according to schedule. Final list of contestants and electoral symbols would be released.
This information was given to a high level meeting held here Wednesday under the chairmanship of Chief Secretary Babar Yaqub Fateh Muhammad by Provincial election Commissioner, Secretary Home and Secretary Local government.
Provincial minister Home Sarfraz Bugti, IG Police, Secretaries of S&GAD, Local Government, Home, Finance and Law, DIG FC and representatives of Pakistan Army also attended.
Provincial election Commissioner said with the issuance of final list of contestants printing of ballot papers would start while preparation of other polling material has also been undertaken which would be dispatched to polling stations in time.
Demarcation of wards in all districts including Quetta has been completed with assistance of political arties.
Meting was told that total number of voters in the province is 3278164 whine total number of wards are 7189. There is one Metropolitan Corporation, 4 municipal corporations, 53 municipal committees, 32 district councils and 634 union councils in the province polling scheme for election of these bodies would be completed in two days.
Meeting was told that posting of District Returning Officers, Returning Officers and Assistant Returning Officers in 32 districts of Balochistan has been completed while polling staff would also be posted shortly.
Meeting held in detailed of security challenges during polls and decided that FC, Police and Levies would be responsible for maintaining law and during polls. Any area would be declared most sensitive, sensitive and normal on the basis of record of tribal disputes, terror acts and political differences.
FC, Police and district administration was directed for preparing effective and comprehensive security plan for the security of candidates, voters, polling staff and polling stations.
Meeting expressed satisfaction that under Supreme Court orders Balochistan is the first province which was ready for local bodies polls and it has edge over other provinces for approval and enforcement of amendment act of local body.
