Nisar phones Army Chief to condemn Upper Dir attack

Islamabad, September 15 (Online): Federal interior minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan Sunday telephoned army chief General Ashfaq Parvez Kiyani to condemn Upper Dir blast which claimed lives of two most senior army officials and a soldier.

Expressing his condolence, Chaudhry Nisar said Pakistan Army has made substantial sacrifices to protect the nation from the menace of terrorism and such cowardly acts by terrorists cannot deter the morale of our Armed Forces.

Two most senior officers and a soldier of the Pakistan army were killed in a roadside planted blast near Pak-Afghan border, said the Inter-Services Public Relations, media wing of the army on Sunday.

Major General Sanaullah and Lt. Colonel Tausif were killed in Upper Dir, district of Khyber Pakhtonkhaw near Afghan border when a roadside landmine bomb went off.

Lance Naik Irfan Sattar also martyred in Sunday incident, ISPR said in a statement.

Sunday incident occurred at time when government was struggling to bring Taliban militants on negotiate table to restore peace in the country.

All Parties Conference (APC) has given mandate to government for negotiation with militant groups.
Meanwhile, Taliban has claimed responsibility of Sunday attack.
