ISLAMABAD, Nov 21 (INP): The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Thursday decided not to use magnetic ink during the upcoming local bodies’ elections despite delay in the electoral process.

Instead, the ECP has directed the Pakistan Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (PCSIR) for increasing the quality of normal ink.

The higher electoral department was of the view that usage of magnetic ink does not support the verification of voters, therefore, it is of no use.

It should be mentioned that the local bodies’ polls will commence on January 18 in Sindh and Jan 30 in Punjab while in Balochistan on December 7.
