Strike, protests in parts of Sindh against “Protection of Pakistan Ordinance”

KARACHI, Nov 20 (INP): Shutter down strike was observed besides protest demonstrations against “Protection of Pakistan Ordinance” in several districts of Sindh on Wednesday adversely disturbing the routine life.

The strike call was given by Jiaye Sindh Qaumi Mahaz (JSQM) which was also joined by other nationalist parties of the province.

Trade activities and transport remained suspended while offices, petrol pumps, educational institutions also remained closed in Sukkur, Dadu, Hyderabad, Matiyari, Khairpur Nathan Shah, Johi Mehr and other cities of the province.

The citizens of internal Sindh had to suffer adversely due to shutter down and lack of public transport.

The security remained on high alert to deal with any untoward occurrence. The police also launched crackdowns in various cities during which 38 suspects were taken into custody.

Section 144 was imposed in Hyderabad for one week due to deteriorating law and order situation.

Earlier five cracker blasts were also reported in Shahdadkot on night falling between Tuesday and Wednesday but no loss took place.
