ISLAMABAD, Nov 20 (INP): Skyrocketing prices of vegetables across the country has further added to the miseries of the poor masses who were already in the grip of multifaceted crisis.

According to details, an increase of Rs20 to 40 has been witnessed in prices of various vegetables including tomato, onion, potato, lady finger, cabbage, turnip, peas, reddish and others during the week.

Tomato was being sold upto Rs200/kg in different cities across the country while the potato price has also mounted to Rs 95/kg.

On the other hand prices of different fruits were also out of reach of common man.

The vegetable dealers were of the view that export of vegetables and delay in arrival of new grown vegetables in market was major reason of surge in prices.

A daily wager was unable to purchase one kilogram of any vegetable and people were forced to take meal by eating bread with tea instead of cooking food. They demanded the government for taking the notice of the spiral in prices and taking steps to provide relief to common man.
