Pak keen to enhance ties with South Korea in diverse fields: President

ISLAMABAD, Nov 20 (INP): President Mamnoon Hussain Tuesday said that Pakistan attaches great importance to its relations with South Korea and was keen to further enhance and diversify bilateral ties in various areas including trade, investment, energy and education sector to the mutual benefit of the two countries.
The President said this during his meeting with a delegation of four former ambassadors of Korea in Pakistan at the Aiwan-e-Sadr on Wednesday. The delegation headed by Mr. Oh Jay-Hee included Mr. Chun Soon-Kyu , Mr. Keum Jeong-Ho and H.E. Mr. Shin Un. Dr. Song Jong-hwan, current Korean Ambassador to Pakistan was also present.
Pakistan Korea bilateral relations were discussed during the meeting.
Welcoming the former Korean ambassador, the President said that the year 2013 carries special importance in relations between Pakistan and Korea as the two countries are celebrating 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations this year. The President said that it was joyous and momentous moment in Pak- Korea relations and expressed satisfaction that bilateral cooperation during the past three decades have expanded and intensified in various areas.
The President said that at the occasion of celebrating 30th anniversary of our diplomatic relations, it was high time for the two countries to focus on further enhancing the scope of mutual cooperation in diverse fields with focus on trade and commercial linkages.He said that a Free Trade Agreement (FTA) between the two countries would help bolster bilateral trade and economic activities.
The Former Korean ambassadors to Pakistan thanked the President for meeting and said that various Korean companies are involved in various businesses in Pakistan and contributing to the economic development of the two countries. The ambassadors assured that they would continue working for strengthening Pakistan Korea bilateral relations in their various capacities.
