Dr. Munaf freed by kidnappers, not recovered: police

QUETTA: Dr. Munaf Tareen a cardiologist kidnapped two and a half months ago from Quetta was released by the kidnappers dropping him near Othal and fled away, Geo News reported Sunday morning.
Lasbela DPO, Ahmad Nawaz Cheema said that Dr. Munaf Tareen has been sent to Karachi. He said that Dr. Munaf Tareen was not recovered, but the kidnappers after release gave him a drop at a petrol pump near Bela and the freed doctor himself made a contact with the police who after taking him into their protective custody sent him to Karachi.
It may be recalled that Dr Munaf Tareen was kidnapped two and a half months ago from Pishin stop here and the kidnappers had demanded a ransom of Rs50 million for his release.
The government hospitals’ doctors of the city since then have been observing strike in protest against the kidnapping of Dr. Abdul Munaf.
