Quetta, Dec. 01 (Online): Cardiologist Dr. Munaf Tareen, who was kidnapped from Quetta more than two months ago, was recovered from an area in Balochistan's Lasbela district on Sunday morning.

Police and family sources confirmed recovery of the senior doctor whose kidnapping triggered Balochistan-wide strike by his colleagues and paramedical staff.

Officials said the kidnappers had dropped the doctor in injured condition at a deserted place in Uthal area of Lasbela district in Balochistan. He was later shifted to Karachi for medical treatment.

The cardiologist was abducted on September 17 when he was on his way to his house from his private hospital at Pishin Stop. The abductors‚ firing gunshots in the air‚ took him away along with his vehicle.

They have later demanded Rs.80 million as ransom. It could not be ascertained immediately whether or not the family members paid the money for recovery of the heart surgeon.

The doctors are now likely to end their strike in government hospitals of Balochistan.
