India takes retaliatory steps against US for arrest of its diplomat

New Delhi Dec 18 (Online): Indian government has ordered a series of reprisals against the United States over the arrest of one of its diplomats in New York.
Security barricades around the US embassy in New Delhi have been removed and a visiting US delegation was snubbed.
Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde cancelled his meeting with the senior US Congressional delegation.
Earlier‚ the Congress Vice-President‚ Rahul Gandhi and the opposition Bharatiya Janata Party's prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi had also refused to meet the delegations.
Indian deputy consul general was handcuffed upon arrest last week in New York. US officials confirmed she was strip-searched afterwards.
