QUETTA Jan 1 (PPI): Frontier Corps Balochistan safeguarded long boarder with neighbouring countries effectively during the year 2013 and discharged it duty against terrorism.
According to Spokesman of FC troops remained deployed in the province on the directives of provincial government for maintaining law and order and to meet any emergency. During the year terrorists carried out 533 attacks on FC personnel win which 51 troops were martyred and 142 were injured. In retaliation several terrorists were killed and wounded.
Dozens of suspects involved in various cases were caught and hander over to police and administration. FC arrested 11 abductors and recovered 18 abducted persons form their clutches. Preventing illegal human movement FC during the year arrested 6600 illegal immigrants and handed over them to FIA and police for further legal action.
FC also setup a FC Madadgar Centre equipped with modern technology in which people can inform any emergency, terrorism, subversion and illegal action of criminals to FC at 1101 phone number.
Besides FC setup 200 bed hospital at a cost of millions of Rupees for the people of Balochistan with which not only FC personnel but people from far flung areas of Balochistan were benefitting.
During the year 2013, FC also amicably safeguarded national assets including security of natural gas wells in Dera Bugti, Sui, Pir Koh, Loti, Toba Notkani and safety of plant, security of gold and copper reserves at Saindak (Chagai), and railway lines and highways in the province. Owing to reform and development measures 136 Ferraris laid down their weapons in Dera Bugti and Uch areas.
FC also provided every possible assistance to earthquake hit people in District Awaran. It established several relief camps in which thousands of families were provided with baked food. They were given 500 tents and 5892 bags of dry ration, atta, sugar, ghee, pulses. Free medical camps were also set up in various areas in which hundreds of patients were treated freely besides providing free medicines.
Spokesman said that 2013 was of great significance because of peaceful holding of general and local bodies elections. Terrorist elements tried to sabotage election process but due to hectic efforts of FC peaceful elections of Balochistan history were held.
