Quetta sit-inners refuse to bury Mastung victims; countrywide protests underway

ISLAMABAD/KARACHI/QUETTA Jan 23 (Online): Protests against loss of lives in Tuesday’s Manstung blast continued in various cities, including Karachi where two vehicles were torched, with traffic suspended in various areas leaving masses in suffering.
A sit-in was staged outside the governor house in Lahore by the MWM and the Imamia Students Organization.
The sit-in at Governor House, Mall Road was attended by the MWM and Imamia Students Organisation workers. The aggrieved protesters demanded justice and action against the perpetrators behind Mastung tragedy.
The demonstrators refused to end the protest until the government ensures concrete action against the terrorists.
Due to the sit-in on Mall Road, the commuters faced difficulties in reaching to their destinations.
Similarly in Islamabad, Multan, Nawabshah, Jackobabad, Dadu, Shikarpur and Hyderabad also saw people holding sit-in against the brutal killing of innocent people in the Mustung attack.
In Karachi Shia organization Majlis-e Wahdatul Muslimeen staged protest sit-ins at Numaish Chowrangi, NIPA Chowrangi, Shahrah-e-Faisal, Malir 15, Drig Road, Five Star Chowrangi, Ancholi, Abbas Town, Nazimabad and other areas.
The early morning protests suspended traffic in various parts as employees and students faced troubles reaching schools and offices. School were also closed in various areas due to the protest.
In Quetta a complete shutter-down strike was observed in the provincial capital to condemn the bombing on the call of nearly all the politico-nationalists parties.
All markets and business centres at Liaquat Bazaar, Prince Road, Jinnah Road, Shahra-e-Iqbal, Mission Road, Shawak Sha Road, Masjid Road, Hazara Town, Alamdar Road and Abdul Sattar Road remained closed throughout the day.
Traffic was thin on the city’s roads compared to the routine rush.
Heavy contingents of the police and law enforcement agencies have been deployed to maintain law and order in the city. However, no unpleasant incident was reported.
The protesters said they will continue their sit-ins until the Hazara community bury their dead and end their protest in Quetta.
Countrywide protests erupted after 24 people, mostly Hazara community pilgrims, returning from Iran were killed and 35 more wounded when a suicide bomber struck a passenger bus in Mastung on Tuesday.
