Pakistan CG at Dubai meets UAE AG

QUETTA Jan 28 (PPI): Consul General of Pakistan Javed Jalil Khattak met Attorney General of UAE Essam Eisa Al-Humaidan in his office in Dubai Tuesday to discuss various legal issues pertaining to prosecution being faced in UAE by Pakistani prisoners/detainees.
Haroon Waqar Malik, Community Welfare Attaché, Khalifa Bin Deemas Al-Suwaidi, Advocate General of UAE and Mustafa Shaheen, Director, Attorney General Office also participated in the meeting.
In a message sent by email Tuesday, Essam Eisa Al-Humaidan assured that all possible measure would be adopted within the parameters of law for swift disposal of criminal cases. He said that his office would extend full cooperation to the Consulate on the legal matters relating to Pakistani prisoners.
Prisoners’ access to legal assistance and repatriation of prisoners who had completed their sentence were discussed in the meeting. Prospects of enhanced cooperation between the Consulate General and Prosecution Department of UAE were also deliberated on this occasion.
During the meeting, both sides reviewed implementation status of the treaty regarding transfer of convicted prisoners between Pakistan and United Arab Emirates. They also agreed upon the need of expeditious transfer of prisoners once mechanism of treaty’s implementation is finalized.
