QUETTA Feb 21 (PPI): Relations between Iran and Pakistan have always been friendly and brotherly and these would further improve in days to come.
These views were expressed by Deputy Governor of Sistan-Balochistan province of Iran Ali Asghar Mir Shikari and Provincial Chief Secretary Babar Yaqoob Fateh Muhammad at a joint Press conference here Friday.
Provincial Secretary Home Asad Gilani, Provincial Secretary Information Abdullah Jan, Iranian Consul General based at Quetta Hassan Yahyavi, IG Police Mushtaq Ahmed Sukhera, and others were present.
Iranian Deputy Governor said our five people have disappeared and there exists serious resentment among our government and people. Such incidents must not take place. We demand they should be recovered immediately as their abduction has created a tense situation.
He said Iran has always fought against terrorism and would continue to follow this . it is supportive that its soil should not be allowed for terrorism and hoped neighbouring countries would also show the same.
He said a joint meeting of Pakistan and Iran border commission was held in Quetta recently which reviewed various matters such as exchange of prisoners and border situation. It was agreed that none of two countries would allow use of their soil against any group. He said next meeting of Joint Border commission would now be held on august 24 in Zahidan.
He said Iran and Pakistan are Islamic countries. And they have helped each other always and this would continue in future.
Balochistan Chief Secretary Babar Yaqoob said incident took place close to Pak-Iran border few days ago is matter of grave concern for Government of Pakistan and Iran. We have assured Iranian government we would extend compete cooperation in this regard. If abducted people are in Balochistan they would be recovered.
He said Iran and Pakistan’s relations have always been friendly and would be so in days ahead because the two countries are Islamic and their culture is also same.
He said Joint Border Commission meeting discussed border situation and exchange of prisoners and other matters. Important decisions were taken which would have positive impacts.
He said it is matter of pleasures Iranian Deputy Governor and his delegation came to Quetta and held meetings which reviewed different matters and took important decisions.
Chief Secretary said that decisions have been taken to strengthen trade between Iran and Pakistan which would enhance development of two countries.
He said this was 12 meeting of Joint border commission under 1987 accord. He said we have assured Deputy Governor we would not allow our soil to be used for any sort of terrorist. Iran has also assured us of this.
Iranian Deputy Governor said he was pleased he and his delegation was accorded warm welcome in Quetta particularly cooperation of media is commendable.
He said he has extended invitation to Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, Balochistan Governor Muhammad Khan Achakzai, Chief Minister Dr Abdul Malik Baloch and Speaker Jan Muhammad Jamali for visiting Iran. We hope they would soon visit Iran. Their visit would further improve Iran and Pakistan relations.
He said People of Iran have good thinking for People in Pakistan and they have always played positive role.
