ISLAMABAD, Sept 16 (INP): With Eid-ul-Azha drawing closer, the sale of sacrificial animals has started in twin cities of Islamabad and Rawalpindi.
Traders have started bringing animals from surrounding areas of the twin cities and the process will get momentum in the coming days like every year, as people from far off areas of the country bring sacrificial animals in the hope of getting better price.
For the time being, sacrificial animals could be seen on IJ Principal Road, Bakara Mandi, Bani Chowk, Adiala Road, Dhamyal Road but prices of the animal are comparatively higher than last year.
Presently, a small number of animals, particularly goats and sheep, have arrived in the city and the prices start from Rs10,000 because of limited number of animals available for sale.
The residents talking to INP said that they were not surprised at high prices of these animals as high prices of other commodities automatically mean that the rates of the sacrificial animals would also remain out of the reach of the general public.
It is expected that in case a large number of animals arrive in the city in the coming days before the Eid, the prices would go down.
Meanwhile, the administrations, of the twin cities have prohibited sale of sacrificial animals in residential areas and on roadsides to avoid sanitation problems. The administrations in coming days will specify places for the animal markets like past years.
