ISLAMABAD, March 11 (Online): Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif called on Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Tuesday and discussed various matters pertaining to national security.

Media reports say the two high-up exchanged views over the ongoing talks with Taliban. The PM held consultation with the Army Chief over formation of a new committee which would be tasked with making direct contacts with the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).

Moreover, all stakeholders in the peace talks joined Tuesday’s meeting at the Prime Minister House, adding that the PM would himself finalize names for the new dialogue committee after consultation with the army leadership.

Both the government and Taliban have announced ceasefire, with Taliban seeking a direct contact with the government.
