Rain, thunderstorm likely in Punjab, KP, GB, Kashmir

ISLAMABAD, Sept 16 (APP): The Pakistan Meteorological Department
(PMD) on Monday forecast rain and thunderstorm in various parts of
Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir and Gilgit Baltistan during the
next 24 hours.
According to the synoptic situation, seasonal low was lying
over northwest Balochistan and its adjoining areas.
Weak monsoon currents from the Arabian Sea were penetrating
northeastern parts of the country up to 3000 feet. A shallow
westerly wave prevailing over Kashmir and adjoining area, is
likely to move eastward in next 24-36 hours.
Rain and thunderstorm is likely in isolated places of Malakand,
Hazara, Kohat, Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Lahore and Sargodha divisions,
Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan.
However, the weather will remain hot and dry in most parts of
Sindh and Balochistan during the next 24 hours.
The highest maximum temperatures recorded during the last 24
hours were Turbat 43 C and Lasbella and Shaheed Benazirabad 40 C.
The maximum temperatures recorded in the other cities were:
Islamabad 31 C , Lahore 32 C, Karachi 32 C, Peshawar 34 C,
Quetta 32 C, Murree 22 C and Muzaffarabad 32 C.
The chief amounts of rainfall recorded during the last 24 hours
were: Rawalpindi 59 mm, Islamabad 44 mm, Sialkot and Gujrat 30 mm,
Sargodha 29 mm, Malamjabba 27 mm, Drosh 26 mm, Noorpur Thal 25 mm,
Jehlum 21 mm, Mangla 19 mm, Mirkhani and Dir 16 mm, Kohat 12 mm,
Lower Dir 11 mm, Chakwal and Joharabad 10 mm.
