EC all set to conduct LB polls in the country: DG EC

ISLAMABAD, Mar 18 (Online): DG Election Commission (EC) Dr Sher Afgan has said EC is ready to conduct Local Bodies (LB) polls in the country.

“ EC is all set to hold LB polls all over the country. If we can carry out delimitation of constituencies for National Assembly (NA) then we can carry out delimitation for LB polls too. We are waiting for Supreme Court (S) decision on delimitation”, he said this while talking to media men outside Supreme Court (SC) here Tuesday.

He said SC had heard electoral reforms case and sought reply from “us” about reforms. EC is taking all possible steps to conduct elections in judicious and transparent manner. In the matter of delimitation somewhere provincial law is coming on the way and some where the matters are being affected by the amendments made in 18th amendment of the constitution, he added. SC is hearing the case on this count, he indicated.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) has told that delimitations have been carried out and it is now ready to hold LB polls. Let us see court gives what orders. The administration of Islamabad has to give the reply in respect of LB polls in federal capital, he held.
