Marketing companies increase LPG price without approval of OGRA

ISLAMABAD, Mar 18 (Online): LPG Marketing Companies have scaled up price of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) by Rs 5 per kilogram without the approval of OGRA.
LPG market companies have increased the price of LPG by Rs 5 per kilogram without any notification from the government and this increase has been made for the second time by these companies during the last six days.
This arbitrary raise by these companies has led to jack up the price of cylinder for domestic consumers use by Rs 60 and cylinder for commercial consumers use by Rs 240.
In consequence of recent increase in price by Rs 5 per kilogram made by LPG marketing companies, LPG will be available in Lahore, Karachi, Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Multan, Hyderabad, Sukkar, Gujranwala, Gujarat, Sialkot and Peshawar at the rate of Rs 125 per kilogram and in hilly stations at the rate of Rs 145 per kilogram.
Chairman LPG Distributors Association Irfan Khokhar has termed increase in the prices of LPG unjust and arbitrary. The production cost of LPG is Rs 75 per kilogram but its prices has been increased by the companies at their sweet will exorbitantly.
He called upon the government to initiate action against the companies responsible for raising the price of LPG besides taking measures for reduction in the price.
It may be recalled that OGRA had directed LPG marketing companies not to increase the prices of LPG till the decision of court.
