Journalists visit PN Schools, hospitals in coastal Areas

QUETTA April 17 (HQ News): Pakistan Navy is undertaking various welfare activities in coastal areas of Balochistan to contribute towards empowerment of local communities.
This was told to a team of Journalists from Quetta, Karachi and Islamabad during their visit to Ormara, Jiwani and Gwadar.
Briefing Journalists Commander Coastal Pakistan Navy Rear Admiral Arifullah Hussaini at Ormara.
He said Navy has established PNS Darmaan Jah hospital at Ormara for welfare of population of coastal belt. A Cadet college has been established at Ormara for providing quality education to local residents. Bahria Model Schools have been established in Ormara, Gwadar and Jiwani while in near future similar schools would be setup at Pasni and Turbat.
He said Navy is always ready to raise dignity of the country and to meet any challenge of enemy. He said an oil tanker would be built with the cooperation of Turkey while navy has manufactured a missile boat with the assistance of China.
Pakistan navy has been a major contributor to the cause of engaging the Baloch positively with a view to improve their living conditions. The entire coastal belt of Balochistan which was below par in its potential due to lack of communications facilities, education and medical service is now being brought into mainstream through various national endeavours .Navy’s Jinnah Naval Base instituted to become a full fledged operational establishment will not only be an important milestone towards the defence of the maritime frontiers of Pakistan but also provide employment opportunities to the elope of Pasni, Turbat and Gwadar.
Uplift of any nation cannot be ensured until the torch of education is lit and its people imbibe the spirit of learning. Deprivation of Baloch people in education has been on two accounts lack of educational facilities and suppression by the feudal/.tribal leaders. It is heartening to note that Navy’s welfare activities and its endeavour to develop the coastal belt include the establishment of Bahria Schools at Ormara and Gwadar, providing the incentive of selecting Baloch students after class VII and educating them at Navy’s schools at Karachi besidessetting up Cadet College at Ormara.
In realm of providing medical facilities Navy has already taken the camps and free medical amenities for Baloch people at its units in coastal belt. There was adire need to setup a modern hospital to render specialist level medical na dhealthcare treatment afacilities. Realisign this urgent reuriement it took the timely deicisonof establishing 100-bed hosoptial at Ormara due to its central location. This hpsital apart form catering to the naval personnel, is also offering healthcare facilities to thelocal populace. The hospital Darmaan jah is a full scale medical faiclitie housing trauma care, operation theatre, labour room, pathology, radio diagnostic centre and dental treatment. It is equipped with state of the area equipment and machinery.
Commander coastal said a centre has been setup at Gwadar for recruitment of local Baloch youth. He said Navy stated recruitment drive in 2007 which yielded good results. From 2011 to 2013 25 youth joined Pakistan naval Academy.
