Army rescinds current withdrawal from Upper Dir

UPPER DIR, 17 Sep (Online): With citizens expressing their solidarity with Peshawar High Court’s verdict of not recalling Army from embattled Malakand Division, including Upper Dir, search operation in union council continues, unabated.
Continuing curfew for third consecutive day, following the explosion by an underground mine on 15th Sep , martyring Major General Sanaullah Niazi and two other high-ranking Army officer at union council of Shahi Kot , is causing many problems for citizens, and could lead to shortage of commodities.
Others martyred in the attack, biggest since June 2011, which injured GOC Swat Javed Iqbal in feet, while traveling in a helicopter, included Lt. Col. Tauseef Ahmad and an accompanying serviceman, Irfan ullah.
Earlier during precious year, 18 soldiers of a Pak Army patrol were abducted and martyred, followed by a long quiet spell, shattered only by the current tragedy.
The chief minister KPK had announced phase wise withdrawal of troops only one day before on Saturday, but that directive obviously stands rescinded after even Peshawar High Court has approved stationing of troops at an area rife with the presence of militants.
The citizens have also strongly supported the re-deployment of troops in the area, expressing complete solidarity with Armed forces against militants.
