Rehman Malik, Altaf Hussain discuss Karachi killings

ISLAMABAD/LONDON May 5 (Online): Former Interior Minister, Rehman Malik, telephoned Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) chief Altaf Hussain on Monday and discussed the matter of MQM’s missing workers.
Sources said Rehman Malik, who is also central leader of the PPP, expressed his condolence to Altaf Hussain on the killings of his party workers in Karachi.
The MQM, which has recently rejoined PPP’s Sindh government, gave a 72-hour ultimatum to the provincial authorities on Friday to investigate ‘extrajudicial killings’ of its members in Karachi.
In his telephonic contact, Malik expressed hope that MQM would withdraw the ultimatum. He held out assurance to the MQM chief that Sindh government, Rangers and other relevant institutions are investigating the murders.
He said the Sindh government would not leave any stone unturned to bring the culprits to book.
Altaf urged the ex-minister to play his role for the recovery of MQM’s missing workers.
