PTI can demand midterm polls any time: says Hashmi

Islamabad, May 13 (Online): President Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf Javed Hashmi Tuesday said demand of midterm elections is not undemocratic act adding that his party can demand midterm polls any time.

Speaking to media persons outside Parliament House, Hashmi said PTI has not yet demanded for midterms elections in the country but demand of midterm election is a democratic right.

He said midterm election is not undemocratic act as it has been practices in largest and oldest democratic countries like India and United Kingdom.

PTI president said people are suffering with high inflation, high prices, power load shedding and joblessness.

He said if PML-N government does not deliver and provide basic rights to masses then PTI can any time demand midterm elections which is their democratic right.

Hashmi said Imran Khan is a truthful leader who did not want to derail the democracy with protests added that May 11 rally was proof of their commitment.

He said PTI leadership and its workers were peaceful during the protest rally and did nothing which could cause threat to the democracy in the country.

Former PML-N leader said that PTI workers were barred from participating in May 11 protest by the government but despite all hurdles, hundreds thousand people had reached in the rally to make it successful.

Hashmi said MQM leader Altaf Hussain is Pakistani national and urged the government to provide him his national id card and green passport.
