Attack on ASF academy repulsed, terrorists fled

Karachi, June 10 (Online): Security forces repulsed attack on Airports Security Force (ASF) academy near Karachi international airport on Tuesday, officials said.
Gun battle between attackers and security forces was reported earlier.
ASF spokesman has confirmed the report, saying that exchange of fire between ASF personnel and terrorists at ASF academy located near the old terminal that was attacked Sunday night.
Rescue organization ‘Chhepa’ has claimed that three ASF personnel were sustained minor injures and first aid was provided inside the academy.
Army and paramilitary Rangers were called for reinforcement.
Sources said four to five attackers intended to enter ASF academy gate no.2 however retaliated fire forced them to flee.
Search operation was underway in nearby slum where it was believed that attackers have had taken refuge. Army helicopters were flying to monitor the situation.
Army has deployed at airport and its adjoined ASF academy.
Amid attack news at ASF academy, flight operation at international and country’s busiest airport was temporarily suspended and Karachi-bond flights were diverted to other nearby airports.
It was the second such brazen attack which came two days after Taliban-claimed assault on Karachi airport’s old terminal building, leaving nearly 31people dead, all ten terrorists were also killed.
