Pat Feeder Canal system at verge of collapse

DERA MURAD JAMALI July 31 (PPI): Owing to wrong planning the largest canal system Pat Feeder in Nasirabad Division Green belt has reached to the brink of collapse. Had government provided required funds for plugging breaches of Pat Feeder Canal present situation would have avoided.
This was stated by Speaker Balochistan Assembly Jan Muhammad Jamali while speaking to Newsmen at his residence in Usta Muhammad.
He said 2010 floods caused massive damage to Pat Feeder Canal which could not be repaired so far. Owing to some reasons people have lost confidence in officers of Irrigation Department. He suggested to the government that under the supervision of FC FWO should be assigned digging of canal, repair of banks and desilting because desilting and repair of canal by irrigation Department is not possible form security point of view.
Jan Jamali said securing water share form Sindh is not difficult while real issue is repair of canal system which was result in 50 percent less water and there is no capacity of acquiring more than this water.
He said to secure full water share and save Balochistan Green Belt from ruination destroyed portion of Pat Feeder canal should be immediately repaired and supply of water should be ensured.
