Transporters block Pak-Afghan international highway

CHAMAN Nov 19 (PPI): Transporters blocked Pak-Afghan international highway by burning tyres to protest alleged distortion of police and road permits here Wednesday. Due to closure of highway long queues of vehicles stranded on both sides.
Transporters also protested along Mall road and in front of DC office. Police baton charged transporters peaceful protest in which four transporters were injured.
According to details transporters blocked Pak-Afghan highway by burning tyres against police behaviour, its distortion and road permits here today. Hundreds of vehicles stranded on both sides of the road. Due to closure of highway Afghan Transit Trade and NATO supplies were also suspended.
Transporters also protested along Mall road an in front of DC office and staged a sit in. Peace severely baton charged protesting transporters in which four transporters were injured. Transporters demanded immediate transfer of SHO City Police Station and said he received bhatta from transporters. When it is not given they are beaten and their vehicles are closed at police station.
After detailed and successful talks with DPO Asad Khan Nassar and tribal leaders Pak-Afghan highway was opened for traffic. It was decided that police would not receive any bhatta.
