Polio immunization campaign gets underway in Quetta

QUETTA: The supplementary polio immunization campaign got underway in Quetta district on Monday.
During the campaign, around 4.5 million children upto five years of age would be administered the anti-Polio vaccine.
The mobile polio teams have been formed for the purpose of immunizing the children against the disease. In addition to the mobile teams, the special arrangements have also been made to administer the polio drops to the children at different fixed and transit points of the districts. Under the arrangements, the polio drops would also be administered at the basic health units (BHUs) as well as the rural health centers (RHCs).
All the necessary arrangements have been made for the campaign in the district, the sources of the Health department informed.
The necessary security would also be provided to the health workers and volunteers engaged in the polio immunization campaign, it was learnt.
It may be mentioned here that it is the second campaign being carried out in the district during the current month of December.
The ongoing campaign would remain continued till December 31, 2014. However, the children to be missed from immunization would also be administered the anti-polio drops on the following day.
