Steps being taken to develop Agriculture sector: Buzdar

QUETTA: The Provincial Secretary for Agriculture and Cooperatives, Abdul Rehman Buzdar has said that wholehearted steps are being taken to strengthen agriculture sector and make it more effective in the province, on special directives of the Chief Minister, Dr. Abdul Malik Baloch and under guidance of the Minister, Sardar Aslam Bizenjo.
He was addressing a meeting of the officers of the Agriculture department here on Tuesday. The meeting reviewed the overall performance of the department.
The Secretary maintained that the ongoing schemes, agricultural farms and offices are being visited and thoroughly inspected in order to develop the agriculture sector on sound footings. He said that the meetings are being conducted with authorities of the department, zamindars and field officers and they are being intimated about the progress and use of modern technology in the agriculture sector, Abdul Rehman Buzdar maintained.
He said that the high ups of the farms and management of the agriculture engineering as well as research have been directed to observe field day thrice in a month so that the growers and zamindars are updated about the modern style of cultivation and imparted necessary training in this regard as well.
Moreover, he also directed to arrange exhibitory plots displaying all processes of cultivation on the basis of modern research and information.
Similarly, the sign boards containing meaningful messages should be placed by the agriculture department at high ways and the link roads all over the province, he directed further.
This would help raise the awareness about agriculture and use of modern means and technology in it among the zamindars and thus enhance their production, he believed.
He mentioned that he himself along with the director generals of different sections of the Agriculture department is visiting different areas to personally review the related schemes there.
