First polio case of year 2015 reported from Chaghai district

QUETTA: The first day of the New Year 2015 has witnessed a fresh case of polio reported from Balochistan.
The case was reported from Chaghai area of the province, it was confirmed by the sources of Provincial Health Department on Thursday.
The polio virus has been detected in the 26-month old boy child, Muhammad Shafi, resident of Union Council Aamri of Chaghai, the sources maintained. It was a refusal case as he was never immunized against polio, the sources informed.
It may be mentioned here that it is after at least four years that a case has been reported from Chaghai area.
Needless to mention here is also that last year 22 cases of polio disease were reported in the Balochistan province during year 2014.
Qilla Abdullah topped the list of polio cases with 12 in number followed by Quetta where five cases had been reported during the past year.
One case each was reported from Pishin, Killa Saifullah, Zhob, Naseerabad and Khuzdar.
The provincial government had launched immunization campaign in different parts of the province last month.
A campaign is scheduled to be launched in Quetta district in second week of January.
