QUETTA: The Quetta Electric Supply Company (QESCO) kept on taking action against the defaulters of the dues on account of the electricity bills in different parts of the province including Quetta.
A team headed by Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO), Brewery road Sub-Division, Ismail Shah under the supervision of the Central Circle Superintending Engineer, Baz Muhammad Mandokhail and Executive Engineer, Zahoor Ahmed Marri raided in the areas including Golimar chowk, Essa Nagri, Muslim Town, Faisal Town, Western By-pass, Bank colony and their adjacent areas.
During the crackdown, power connections of some 57 domestic and commercial consumers were disconnected on non-payment of the utility bills and arrears.
The QESCO sources said that thousands of rupees are outstanding against the defaulters. During the action, some 100 old meters of the electricity were also replaced. These meters were not reportedly providing correct reading.
In the meantime, the serve wire and other electricity equipment were taken into custody. Meanwhile, the Special Magistrate of QESCO (First Class Magistrate-I) Mehmood Ahmed Lehri along a team comprising SDO Gwadar, Mehrab Baloch also raided in different parts of the Gwadar city and disconnected over 50 power connections. Thousands of rupees were fined to the defaulters.
An ice factory was also raided in Gwadar city. The factory was reportedly involved in the power pilferage.
The power connection of the factory was disconnected besides charging the fine to its owner.
Meanwhile, the QESCO has appealed to the consumers to ensure timely payment of the electricity utility bills and the arrears. Otherwise, stern action would be taken against them, it was warned.
