No action taken by FIA against elements involved in human trafficking in name of sports: Secretary PBF

ISLAMABAD, Sept 19 (Online): Ban imposed on Pakistan Badminton Federation (PBF) by International Badminton Federation (IBF) has not been lifted despite lapse of three years owing to lack of interest by the government in the matter.
Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has also failed to take any action against the elements allegedly involved in human trafficking in the name of sports even after 2 years have been elapsed.
On a written application received from PBF secretary Imtiaz Gul, Joint secretary inter-provincial coordination had sent a letter to Director General (DG) FIA in September, 2011 whereby the latter was requested to probe into allegations of illegal and undue interference into PBF affairs by Lt Gen (Retd) Syed Arif Hassan, president Pakistan Olympic Association, sending fake players by him to US, UK, Australia and Canada through forgery and matters related to imposition of ban by IBF on PBF.
The FIA has not initiated any action against the elements allegedly involved in human trafficking and defaming the country despite passage of two years nor Lt Gen (Retd) Arif Hassan has been investigated in this respect.
Imtiaz Gul said Arif Hassan is responsible for causing damage to sports in the country. Syed Arif does not accept the decisions of the courts and government and he has set up a state within state in the country.
He appealed to Chief Justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and minister for inter-provincial coordination Riaz Hussain Pirzada to take stern action against the mafia found involved in human trafficking and bringing the sports to the brink of destruction.
