Secretary Agriculture disappointed over last
few years’ performance of the department

QUETTA: The Provincial Secretary for Agriculture, Abdul Rehman Buzdar has stated that the provincial government was taking wholehearted measures for bringing the deserted land under cultivation besides increasing and improving production of crops in the province, what’s needed is to provide correct information and awareness to the farmers from the Agriculture department.
This, he stated while addressing a meeting of the Agriculture department here the other day. Those who were in attendance were included: Director General (Extension), Yar Muhammad Pindrani, Director General (Research), Muhammad Javed Tareen, Director General (Agriculture Engineering), Abdul Manan Raisani, Director General (Water Management), Abdul Wahab Kakar and Director (Agricultural Information), Taj Muhammad Panezai.
The Secretary Agriculture was briefed about the overall performance of the department.
Addressing the participants, the Secretary expressed his disappointment over performance of last few years. He regretfully pointed out that our officers and field staff are not performing with dedication.
Buzdar stressed the need to bring improvement and reforms in all sectors of the Agriculture in order to increase the yield to a great extent.
The performance of the officers and field staff concerned regarding awareness slogans on the highways, exhibitory plots in the field, consultation with the farmers about use of fertilizers and spray on the scientific basis, analysis of land and water, the botanic preservation have been remained disappointing, he noted with concern.
The Secretary Agriculture also stressed that the assistant of farmers is essential in all the phases of cultivation of crops.
By doing so, we can render valuable services for progress of agriculture together, he maintained.
The Secretary on the occasion directed to all district officers of the department to furnish their performance reports to all the four Director Generals as well as their respective Divisional Directors by 15th of every month.
