Fares of public transport to be reduced further, says Mandokhail

QUETTA: In wake of reduction in prices of the petrol and other petroleum products in the country, the Provincial Transport Department has decided to reduce further the fares of the public transport plying on all routes in the province.
Talking to the media, the Provincial Minister for Transport, Sheikh Jaffar Khan Mandokhail said that the reduction in transport fares would be made in Balochistan in proportion with the reduction in rates of the petrol and petroleum products in the country.
He said that we have already started working on the matter and the necessary notification regarding reduction in the transport fares would be issued in a couple of days.
It may be mentioned here that the public transport fares had also been reduced in the recent past following reduction in the prices of the petroleum products.
The Provincial Transport Authority (PTA) and Regional Transport Authority (RTA) have also started implementation on the revised transport fares in the province.
The secretaries of the respective authorities were personally supervising the campaign against the transporters fleecing the passengers on different routes.
Local transport fare reduced by Rs. 5:
Meanwhile, the Local Bus Transport Association has announced to reduce the fare by Rs. 5 for the passengers travelling on the local buses ply on different routes of Quetta.
According to President of the Association, Muhammad Shafi, the fare of Rs. 15 instead of Rs. 20 would be charged from a passenger on the local buses.
The decision to this effect has been made after recent reduction in prices of petrol and petroleum products in the country.
