Annual Sibi Mela opened

SIBI(PPI): Sibi mela promotes unity and love among people of Balochistan while it also strengthens development of livestock, agriculture and other sectors and prosperity of people as well as economy of the country.
Historic and cultural mela of Sibi is the biggest in Balochistan and country?s second public gathering and important ceremony. Despite increasing terrorism in the country organizing such celebrations is not less than a blessing.
These views were expressed by Provincial Minister for S&GAD Nawab Muhammad Khan Shahwani while inaugurating week long historic annual festival at Sardar Chakar Khan Stadium here Saturday.
Balochistan Chief Minister had to grace the occasion as chief guest but owing to bad weather he could not come here.
Adviser to Chief Minister Obedullah Babat, Provincial Minister Sardar Mustafa Tareen and senior provincial officers and tribal elders attended.
Nawab Shahwani said regular holding of Sibi Mela started as back as 1918 which continues till today. It reflects Balochistan?s ancient culture and besides civilization it is also mean of promotion of economic activities. Government of Balochistan was reviving its hustle and bustle of this mela as its duty. Voluntary participation of people from far flung areas of the country in large number was maintaining its hustle and bustle. Mela also helps exchange of information in livestock, agriculture, industry, science and technology and other spheres of activity with opportunities of observance. He said livestock is mainstay of 90 percent population of the province and this festival provides jobs opportunities to animal holders from Balochistan and other parts of the country. Livestock occupies importance in the lives of people of Balochistan. Development and strengthening of this sector would make people of rural areas prosperous and development of country?s economy.
Nawab Shahwani said Govenrmetn of Balochistan and its representatives are desirous for true progress and prosperity of the people and all resources were being mobilized for it.
He said Balochistan Chief Minister Dr Abdul Malik Baloch would announce development package for resolving problems of Sibi.
He appreciated presentation flower show by children, performance of bands party of girls and boys students, FC, Pak Army and BRP band party. Tent pegging, national songs and other beautiful programmes are appreciable.
At the inauguration pigeons and balloons were released. School girls sung national songs, around 600 student presented flower show, artistes from various parts showed regional dances and animals parade was also held. Motorcycle jumps was another item at the inaugural show.
Later agriculture and industrial exhibition as also opened at the exhibition ground.
