Buildings raised without NOC to be demolished, warns Deputy Mayor Younas Baloch also warns of stern action against those using poor quality material in construction

QUETTA: Deputy Mayor of Quetta Metropolitan Corporation (QMC), Muhammad Younas Baloch has said that all the buildings to be constructed without no objection certificate (NOC) in the provincial metropolis would be demolished.
In a statement issued here, we would not be going to make any compromise over multi-story buildings constructed or being constructed in violation of the building code and that without any NOC from the concerned authority.
He noted with concern that seven to 10 story buildings have been built in the city while its population has increased to 3.5 million. In case of any natural calamity (God forbids), there is fear of colossal damages, Deputy Mayor said adding that if the due attention was not paid on such buildings, they could cause mishaps.
He also pointed out that the buildings which were raised without passage of necessary maps would be closed. For the purpose, a committee would be formed with consultation of Mayor Quetta Metropolitan, Younas Baloch maintained.
The committee would also comprise councilors. It would inspect the buildings that whether they are built according to the due standard or otherwise, he said.
After submission of the due final report from the committee, action would be taken against the buildings which were constructed with poor quality material. No one would be allowed to construct buildings above 30 feet high from the ground, he asserted.
It is not our decision rather the court of law has also passed a verdict in this regard, he mentioned.
Moreover, the legal action would be taken against those using poor quality material in construction of the buildings, the Deputy Mayor said.
He said that it is our earnest desire and endeavor to pay attention towards the basic issues. Referring the discretionary funds, he said that a council has been formed in this regard. The funds would be spent in all 58 union councils of the metropolitan, he informed.
