Highlights of impressive closing session of Sports Festival

QUETTA: It was an impressive ceremony held to mark concluding of the second edition of Balochistan Sports Festival 2015 in the spacious football ground of the Ayub Stadium on Monday morning.
The Governor, Muhammad Khan Achakzai was the chief guest while the Commander Southern Command, Lt. General Nasir Khan Janjua, provincial Ministers, members of the assembly, elites of the province, senior military and civil officers, government functionaries, besides a large number of the general public, sports persons and students belonging to various educational institutions.
Following are highlights of the closing ceremony of the Sports Festival.
The chief guest accompanied with Commander Southern Command arrived in the ground while riding in a traditional baghi at 11:00 AM.
The Commander SC was dressed in his Army uniform. Other senior military officers including Major General Aftab and others were also clad in their uniforms.
Also attended the ceremony was by the Provincial Minister for Services and General Administration department, Nawab Muhammad Khan Shahwani, Minister for Culture and Sports, Mir Mujeebur Rehman Muhammad Hassani, Member National Assembly, Dr. Shama Ishaq Baloch, Chief Secretary, Saifullah Chattha, besides others.
The impressive fly mast and free fall of Pak army commandos was the important feature of the closing ceremony.
There was also a very striking display of the band by the Army and a few educational institutions including Balochistan University of Information Technology, Engineering and Management Sciences (BUITEMS).
The folk dances and national songs were also presented on the occasion making it a memorable event, indeed.
The Governor Balochistan, Commander Southern Command and Minister Sports, Mir Mujeebur Rehman distributed prizes and commemorative shields among the outstanding players and officials.
The organizers and others assisting them in different events were also given prizes.
The Governor gave away winning trophy to the BUTEMS.
The Governor and Commander Southern Command were appreciative of the provincial government, Pak army and other organizers for successfully organizing the Sports Festival.
In the end, there was a special group photo session by the students of BUITEMS with the Governor and Commander SC.
At the outset, strict security measures were adopted in and around the venue of the closing ceremony.
The additional deployment of the Police, Frontier Corps (FC) and other law enforcement agencies was made to avert any untoward incident.
It may be mentioned that the Sports Festival was started on March 22, 2015.
Different sports events were organized as part of the Sports Festival at different venues mostly in the spacious Ayub Stadium.
In addition to the sports competitions, different other healthy activities were also organized in continuation of the Sports Festival.
These were included: commemoration of different days i.e., Media Day, Martyrs’ of Balochistan Day, Special Children’s Day, Artist Day and Teachers’ Day.
As mentioned earlier, it was second edition of the Festival as the first one was organized last year 2014. This time, the Sports Festivals has also been arranged at the divisional level.
