Govt. decides to beef up further security of religious places of minorities

QUETTA: The government has decided to beef up further the security of religious places of the minorities in the province.
The decision to this effected was made during a meeting chaired by the Additional Commissioner Quetta, Muhammad Qasim Mengal here the other day.
Those who were present in the meeting were the Member Provincial Assembly belonging to Pashtoonkhaw Milli Awami Party, William Barkat, Deputy Commissioner Quetta, Dawood Khan Khilji, Deputy Inspector General of Police (Operations), Aitezaz Goraya and other concerned senior officials besides representatives of different minorities.
The meeting discussed the security issues related to the safety of religious places of minorities in the province and certain decisions were made.
It was decided to conduct thorough search of the people entering the religious places through metal detectors. Necessary training of the security staff deputed there would also be made, the meeting decided further.
Similarly, the four walls of the churches, temples and other religious buildings would also be raised to a reasonable level besides erecting wires there.
The meeting also decided to install close circuit television cameras in order to improve security system in the minorities’ religious places.
The barriers would also be placed in front of the churches. Moreover, the additional force of the personnel of law enforcement agencies would be deployed at the religious places during their prayers. The law enforcers would also remain present there in routine.
These initiatives would help avert any untoward incident, the Additional Commissioner Quetta believed.
He also stressed the need to ensure foolproof security arrangements for the minorities’ religious places so as to protect their life and properties.
