Security not big issue for eradication of polio, insists CCPO

QUETTA: Capital City Police Officer (CCPO), Abdul Razzaq Cheema has stated that security is not big issue for eradication of polio, rather creation of awareness matters a lot in this regard, and every person has to play one’s effective role.
He stated so during meeting with the Coordinator of Emergency Operation Center Balochistan, Dr. Syed Saifur Rehman and Staff Officer, Dr. Aftab Kakar, here the other day.
Dr. Saifur Rehman briefed the CCPO about the polio immunization campaign in the Quetta district, which otherwise has been declared as a polio high risk district.
He also pointed out that “inadequate” security is going to become an issue during the anti-Polio campaign.
However, the CCPO said that he is well aware of the importance of polio immunization campaign. He assured the maximum security cover to the health workers during the campaign.
He also said that security is not big issue rather improving performance and use of modern techniques could play vital role in the eradication of polio.
He stressed that every individual has to play one’s role in saving future of our younger generation. We have to work with the resolve to make the province polio free.
It may be mentioned here that the Short Interval Additional Dose polio immunization campaign was launched in Quetta district this week.
During the campaign, over 2,50,000 children below five years of age were administered the anti-polio vaccine.
