QUETTA: The annual budget of Quetta Metropolitan Corporation (QMC) was approved for the year 2014-15 in its session here the other day.
The Deputy Mayor of QMC, Muhammad Younas Baloch presided over the session held in the Council Hall. Also in session was the Mayor, Dr. Kalimullah Khan.
The Accounts Officer of the Corporation, Abdul Waheed Badini presented the budget.
According to the budget, the total expenditures of Rs. 1.76,39,89,950 billion have been shown in the budget during the financial year.
The income has been estimated as Rs. 1.77,12,16,603 billion during the financial year as stated by the budget presenter.
The schemes identified by the members have been included in the budget.
Meanwhile, the budget was approved after consultation with the members present in the house.
It was informed in the session that the development activities could not be carried out due to absence of the local bodies. The deduction in the expenditures has been made in the expenditures just because it was not possible to mobilize all the resources owing to lack of time with the presented elected government, the meeting was briefed.
Still every possible was made to execute the incomplete maximum incomplete projects in the short span of time, it was informed further.
Addressing the budget session, the Deputy Mayor said that the issues we are facing are more than the limited resources. But, we are working with sincerity, honesty and with planning to resolve the issues facing the Corporation, so that the very objective behind establishment of the local governments is achieved, Younas Baloch maintained.
The meeting expressed grief and sorrow over demise of wife of Chairman Editorial Committee, Syed Khalilur Rehman and the Karachi bus tragedy. Fatekha khawani was also offered for the departed souls.
Earlier, the councilors presented their recommendations in the budget session. They praised the Mayor and Deputy Mayor for their certain initiatives for betterment of the Corporation.
The manner they (Dr. Kalimullah and Younas Baloch) have brought the Corporation on track is really appreciable, the councilors remarked.
