Extra-ordination polio immunization begins in Quetta today

QUETTA: The extra-ordinary polio immunization campaign is scheduled to be launched in Quetta district from today (Wednesday).
The provincial Health department sources said that the three-day campaign would remain continued till Friday.
During the three-day campaign, over 4,50,000 children of below five years of age would be administered the anti-polio vaccine.
It may be mentioned here that the vital campaign had been postponed in Quetta due to boycott of the doctors and other health workers for non-payment of the dues.
Meanwhile, the Secretary Health, Noorul Haq Baloch told the media that as the demands of the boycotting doctors and staff had been met, so they have ended their boycott.
Now, it has been decided to launch the campaign from May 20 (today). During the campaign, all the union councils of district would be covered administering the anti-polio drops to the targeted children.
It may also be mentioned here that the campaign is in progress in six other districts of the province including Killa Abdullah, Pishin, Zhob, Jaffarabad, Naseerabad and Hub tehsil of Lasbela district.
The campaign had been launched in these six districts on Monday last. It is targeted to administer polio vaccine to over 700,000 children there.
