Rehman Malik escapes assault by angry protesters in Peshawar hospital

Peshawar, September 23 (Online): Rehman Malik faced unexpected situation in Peshawar’s Lady Reading hospital when annoyed protesters attacked former Interior minister who came here to visit people who wounded in Sunday deadly blasts hit a church.
Rehman Malik, was visiting Lady Reading hospital to enquire about the health of victims on behalf of his party when members of angry victim families ran after the ex-minister to assault him however, the Senator found asylum in hospital’s chief executive office.
The protesters then surrounded the office where former interior minister had taken refuge and chanted slogans against hospital authorities and the government.
Protesters said their wounded victims were not being taken care of adding that shortage of medicine is making the situation worse.
Later on, Malik was taken out of hospital amidst tight security where he spoke to media persons.
He said Pakistan Peoples Party condemns Peshawar Church blasts which is coward act of terrorists.
Malik criticized government’s soft behavior with militants saying that church attack was return-gift of Mulla Baradar’s release.
Ex-minister said terrorists damaging country’s image abroad by such activities.
He suggested that terrorists must be handled with iron hand.
