Cheques of scholarships offered to 116 needy minorities’ students

QUETTA: The cheques of scholarships were distributed among 116 needy students of Minorities here the other day.
The amount of the scholarships was arranged by the Member National Assembly belonging to Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F), Mrs. Asiya Nasir from her MNA Fund.
A ceremony marking distribution of the scholarship cheques was held here in which MNA Asiya Nasir, JUI-F leaders Haji Noor Gul Khilji, Mufti Abdul Ghafoor Madani, Abdul Wasey Seher, Raheemuddin, Nasir Maseih and others participated.
Addressing the ceremony, they said that while the cheques of scholarships have been distributed among students of the minorities in Quetta, the same would also be given to other deserving students of other parts of the country.
They said that the Jamiat is in forefront to protect rights of the minorities, and as such, it is also taking steps for their welfare.
The JUI-F leaders on the occasion also appreciated Mrs. Asiya Nasir for raising forceful voice for the minorities. She was the first to reach the Christians’ basti in Lahore after the incident of setting it ablaze.
She is very powerful voice of minorities in the country, the JUI-F leaders commended.
They also mentioned that get to-gathers in connection with inter-faith harmony would be arranged all over the country.
Referring the distribution of cheques for students, they said that it shows that the Jamiat pays extra ordinary attention towards education. They hoped that the students getting scholarships would focus on their studies.
Later, the scholarship cheques were handed over to the students.
Meanwhile, the Minority Member Provincial Assembly belonging to Pashtoonkhaw Milli Awami Party (PkMAP), William Barkat gave away the educational scholarships to some 22 students from the Christian community here the other day.
The male and female students, whom the scholarships were given by William Barkat from his MPA Fund, belong to Sibi district.
The scholarship award ceremony was held at the College of Nursing, Christian Hospital the other day.
Also present on the occasion was the Medical Director of the Christian Hospital, Dr. Sadrick Jalal.
Speaking on the occasion, William Barkat, who also happens to be the member of Central Committee of PkMAP, said that education is essential for development. No nation could progress without education so our children have to focus on their studies, he stressed.
He said that the scholarships are being offered to the deserving students in order to encourage their in their studies. He said the scholarships had also been offered to the students last year.
William Barkat expressed the hope that the students would excel in their studies paying wholehearted attention towards the same.
